FIRM Construction is currently constructing a 40 resident bedroom facility in Geraldton along with completing a service and structural tie into the existing 30 resident bedroom facility. This includes a full refurbishment of the existing facility and revamped layout to the front reception, nurse stations and laundry area. This project has multiple issues to overcome and factors effecting project handover. A critical aspect is working in and around current residents and staff to ensure we mitigate shutdown time of any major services and ensure the safety of all involved.
Along with the resident rooms the facility features a ground and first floor level courtyards along with a large activity area and kitchen servery providing an abundance of natural light to the building. The entrance features a showcase of high quality finishes such as mechanically fixed imported stone from Turkey and Alucobond, which combine to create a quality first impression. The lower ground consists of a large foyer/reception area, which leads into staff training facilities, management offices, administration & archives, storage areas along with changing rooms and toilets.
FIRM Construction has completed the construction of West Leederville Private Hospital, which included four surgeries, intensive care ward, general ward, day patient ward, consultation rooms, reception and toilets.
There were stringent medical services requirements for the project, including:
This 110-bed respite home project involved the class 2 demolitions and asbestos removal of the existing premises, contiguous concrete piling and basement excavation in limestone. The four-story building marries into the heritage listed building, which has been fully restored back to its original form and will operate as the administration building for the facility. The health care facilities operate 24/7 and with nurse call stations and medical facilities.
The project has achieved a four star “design and as built” score. The project involved a lot of community consultation and liaison with the council and the neighboring school to ensure all stake holders in the community were kept informed and safe, as it was constructed in a heavily built up residential neighborhood.
The project involved the conservation of 4 Norfolk Pines on site. All demolition and construction, including using tower cranes, had to take part while not allowing any damage to occur to the tree.
FIRM recently completed the full renovation of a heritage listed building in Northbridge, Western Australia. The building was developed to accommodate the new Woman’s Health Services. FIRM installed new services and systems through out together with a complete finishes and materials make over.
This project was awarded a Greenstar rating of 4 Stars.
