The Chrystal Halliday Aged Care Facility by Juniper Aged Care sits in the leafy suburb of Karrinyup, between Lake Gwelup Reserve and the ocean. The design and functionality of this 120-bed facility has been thoughtfully crafted to fit the continually evolving demand of its end-users. Built to expand on the current Chrystal Halliday facility, this multi-storey building provides a greater connectivity to its local environment and landscape; to provide better care for its clients.
This four storeys, 120-bed aged care residential facility features one and two-bedroom apartment suites with its own private en suites, private dining rooms and communal areas. In addition, Chrystal Halliday has a dedicated dementia wing providing residences with an extensive range of care and support to its residents. Entertainment facilities included within the project included an on-site hair dresser, chapel, day spa and interactive landscape spaces for residents and visitors to use.
Furthermore, each room has provision for nurse call systems, NBN connection and state of the art CO2 sensors for resident’s safety and comfort. The in-built CS cavity slider doors relives the requirement for wasted wall space otherwise taken up by external head motors for sliding doors. The common and living spaces feature timber agar decorative ceiling tiles; reception area being lined with proprietary click concept timber and aluminium cladding that cast your eyes up into the light well in the front entrance.
Level 1 provides a glimpse into this area through the integrated cabinetry and louver screening while viewing onto the paved porte-cochere. The undercroft car park spaces feature handcrafted decorative metal screens to intertwine the internal and external spaces together. The building’s externals feature a mix of selecta timber cladding, natural limestone and standing seam wall cladding.
A hallmark of the development is the meticulously crafted finishes of each room, including bespoke in-built cabinetry and TV provisions; curtain and block out blinds, and operable breezeway louvers to each bedroom for natural ventilation. The ensuites has floor to ceiling wall tiles and shower recess mosaics. Special attention to detail was given to the hydraulic fit of pertaining to sink, toilet and shower heads.
A premium medical grade fit-out has been constructed to the highest quality finishes, including unique blend of Victorian ash skirtings, handrails and dado rails cap of the corridor linings, stone walls and black features accents with atmospheric lighting. In line with the salutogenic approach to the building atmosphere, the hallways are lined with wall paper, colour matched to the flotex carpet and door colours to aid in memory function for residents living in the dementia wing.
