PROJECTS | COMMERICAL

Dwellingup National Trails Centre

The project was delivered over four separable portions to minimise the inconvenience to the visitors. The site team separated construction activities safely from the public, informed regularly about upcoming works and possible impact on access ways, and maintained operations within the visitor area.

Close collaboration with the design and engineering team.

FIRM Construction engaged closely with the design and engineering team to ensure all design issues were identified and resolved from an early planning stage. The construction team incorporated their expertise in building and timber construction methodologies to ensure the design could be realised at construction as planned.

A key design issue was the steel connection for the six large timber portal frames. The connections are visible and are a key feature of this timber building. It was critical that the timber beams, columns and the steel connections were designed and constructed as per design plans. Accurate material take-offs and detailed planning ensured construction of the large timber portal frames on site was not delayed due to any mistakes.

The timber was sustainably sourced within Australia and in accordance to FSC Standard.
