The Nowergup Rail Depot Upgrade included the construction of a new maintenance building to service B-series rail cars with 370m of wired rail track through the new depot. Other installed features include overhead access structures and wiring works, 200m of unwired rail track to store maintenance machines, and a 800m train drivers footpath. FIRM Construction completed the project in accordance with PTA specifications and contractual requirements, with no unplanned service interruptions to depot operations, and no damages to existing depot infrastructure, including OLE, switchboards and track structures. The project was characterised by complex stakeholder liaisons with PTA, Downer EDI, train operators, local authorities, and subcontractors. Collaborative project management, including regular communication, planning and interface management with the detailed staging of the works contributed to the successful delivery of this PTA project.
